Jam Bonanza operates on a vertical match-3 grid where every swap creates potential chain reactions. When you align three identical candy pieces—whether bananas, plums, strawberries, or glittering gems—they vanish in a burst of sparkles and the pieces above cascade downward to fill empty spaces. This cascading mechanic automatically triggers additional matches without requiring extra moves, building multiplier chains that can reach astronomical values like x21 or x69.

The game introduces special power-ups through strategic matching. Create a line of four candies to spawn a striped candy that clears entire rows when matched. Align five pieces in an L or T formation to generate a wrapped candy that explodes in a 3x3 area. The ultimate combo involves matching five candies in a straight line, producing the rainbow sphere—a universal wildcard that obliterates every candy of one type across the entire board when activated.

Each level presents unique objectives displayed at the start: collect specific candy types, reach target scores, clear jelly-covered tiles, or break through layered obstacles. The deep blue puzzle board fills with increasingly complex arrangements as you progress, demanding both tactical thinking and rapid pattern recognition to maximize cascades within limited moves.
